How do we walk in the way of wisdom? How should we respond to suffering? How can we cope with life's frustrations and sorrows? How ought we to weep? How ought we to love? The answers can be found in the great "how-to" books of Scripturethe Old Testament's wisdom literaturebut...

How do we walk in the way of wisdom? How should we respond to suffering? How can we cope with life's frustrations and sorrows? How ought we to weep? How ought we to love?

The answers can be found in the great "how-to" books of Scripturethe Old Testament's wisdom literaturebut unfortunately, these books are frequently overlooked in biblical theology, despite their immense significance for God's people. O. Palmer Robertson introduces the concept of biblical wisdom before providing a redemptive-historical analysis of Job, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, Song of Songs, and Lamentations. These neglected books offer the contemporary reader inspired insight (and a solid dose of godly realism) into every major realm of human existence: from love and intimacy to grief and calamity.

    Christ our Wisdom

This is a great book, lots of meat and substance. It covers the wisdom literature of the OT minus the Psalms (for which the author dedicates a whole book) from a Biblical Theological perspective - that is, it traces out the redemptive historical themes of the books as it culminates in Christ's person and work. It is the reflections and scholarly endeavors of highly respected teacher who has labored in theological education for over half century and still going. Those wanting to better understand these biblical books should start here to get a good overview before making these books a daily source of guidance and encouragement in the Christian walk.
