Christians Get Depressed Too: Help and Hope For Depressed People$15.00$11.25
Super easy read, not too wordy, not too long (if anything not long enough!). Encouraging to shed a light in a almost taboo topic in church, helpful for anyone who wants to be a good practical supporter of someone going through depression or mental illness. Title itself is already such an encouragement to be able to accept one's situation and allow the process of healing to start. Highly recommended

Help for the Depressed and Their Carers
As a pastor and as one who suffers depression, I have sometimes been asked if I can recommend a good Christian book on depression. Until now I have said that I do not know one. Now, at last, I have found one. It is """"Christians Get Depressed Too"""" by David Murray and published by Reformation Heritage Books. David Murray was a pastor in Scotland before becoming Professor of Old Testament and Practical Theology at Puritan Reformed Theological Seminary in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The book is brief, cheap, and clear. Best of all, though, Murray is balanced and biblical, avoiding the extremes of the so-called biblical counselling movement, which sees depression as simply the result of sin, on the one hand, and of the purely medical model, which sees depression as simply an organic problem of the brain, on the other. He recognises that depression can be complex with many causes and that wisdom is needed in diagnosing the causes and advising appropriate treatment. Following in the steps of the English Puritans (he quotes William Perkins and Richard Baxter) and their successors (he quotes Jonathan Edwards, CH Spurgeon and Martyn Lloyd-Jones), Murray helpfully distinguishes endogenous depression (what the older writers called """"melancholia"""") from spiritual and psychological depression, and gives wise counsel for addressing each. This is the book I would have liked to write; Murray says just what I think needs to be said. It is an excellent book to give to those suffering…
