    Engaging

This biography outlines briefly the life of Daniel Boone. It is very engaging, and the language used is easy to understand. It is very fast paced, and reading it feels like reading a narrative, instead of a dry biography.

    Interesting Read

This is a very informative account of someone many of us thought was a fictional character from a TV series. Interestingly, the book introduces many historical points of reference that inspired the TV scripts, though there are also vast deviations from historical facts as presented by the authors of this book. One example is the character of Rebecca Boone who turns out to be incredibly different to the """"liberated"""" TV version. It appears that her family background, their courtship and her general disposition were vastly different in real life. Also the size of the Boone family has been radically reduced on screen, perhaps to keep in step with modern values. I enjoyed trying to understand some of the realities facing people of early American history and the authors have done their research thoroughly, presenting the details in swift moving and interesting style. There is however a lot of violent encounters outlined in the book that I feel would be disturbing to a number of children of tender years. If you are looking for a Christian book you will likely be disappointed, as apart from a few religious references there does not seem to be much in the way of revelation of Jesus Christ. Interesting read that got my children begging to buy the TV series. They had fun finding the correlations and deviations from real life as presented in this book.
