Not much happens in Theodosia Stapleton's tiny Northumberland village. Certainly not to her. She has resigned herself to spinsterhood, caring for her ailing mother in the home of her grandfather, known to the locals as "General Contrary." When her dear friend dies and leaves behind a daughter, it's simple enough to take the child into her own quiet world. That is, until her ward's famous uncle unexpectedly arrives and throws Theo's tidy orbit completely off-kilter.
Fame was the last thing Daniel Balfour sought when he fought in the Peninsular War. But his brave exploits caught the attention of the King, and now the honors he was given hound him everywhere . . . even on his rushed trip to rescue his orphaned niece.
Theo's quick wit and warm smile reassure him that Rebecca is in good hands, and he finds himself free to swiftly return to London and his responsibilities. But those caring hands are beginning to look like they could also safely hold his heart, and he's tempted to linger. Unfortunately, marriage is simply not in the cards; the army is spouse enough for him.
Then an accident and a scandal lead both Theo and Daniel to discover that their best-laid plans may not have been what God designed for them after all.

Dawn's Untrodden Green (#03 in Regency Wallflowers Series)$25.99
The beauty of a Godly formed character is precious indeed
It was lovely to read the final book in the series Regency Wallflowers and to finally meet this amazing man Captain Daniel Balfour, this heroic man who helped bring God's hope and grace to men around him including two men from the previous books, Adam Edgerton and James Langley. I loved the witty banter and the honesty as to people's unkindness even though appearing to be God fearing. \\n\\nTheodosia at the ripe old age of 31 is living in a small northern English village. She has a facial birthmark that has left her open to ridicule and the heartbreaking thought that marriage to a man who loved her would never happen. She had a Godly character forged through the fires. Beauty is only skin deep and doesn't guarantee a kind and loving character. Often those who aren't seen as outwardly beautiful can't rely on beauty to get them anywhere so their character and wit is built especially when one's heart is formed by the God whom they love and honour. People's opinions are often based on looks so when the decorated war hero Daniel Balfour arrives in the village, people were want to not believe he could possibly the same man. Poor Daniel has his own grief and that of his niece to deal with. \\n\\nThe story of these character's is beautifully interwoven as we look below the surface of the outer body and see the beauty within.

A wonderful, fun read
The writing is very good, and the voice is perfect for the period. And yet, it isn't cumbersome as that style can be sometimes. The dialogue is witty and interesting while being distinctly regency period. I very much enjoyed this story. I also liked how the hero isn't handsome or tall and dashing, and the heroine is called beautiful even though she's not the typical handsome face. It was nice to read about some average people who felt much more than average. I also enjoyed that they were both Christians, and that their witty banter sometimes went too far and unintentionally hurt the other people. Because that is very true in life. Sharp rejoinders are fun and hilarious, but sometimes, they do accidently hurt a person. I really loved how Carolyn developed and presented these two characters. Personally, the ending was a little dramatic for my tastes, but it only made me smile, roll my eyes, and think 'that's so Carolyn'. It didn't affect my enjoyment of the story. This was my favourite of the series, but it can act as a standalone. You don't need to have read the others.

Dawn's Untrodden Green
There is nothing like a wonderful Regency romance and Dawn's Untrodden Green by Carolyn Miller is a wonderful Regency romance! Theodosia Stapleton lives in the tiny Northumberland and has accepted herself as a spinster who is taking care of family and lives in her sister's shadow. Captain Daniel Balfour is a decorated war hero who is not comfortable with his fame. He comes to Northumberland to be with his niece after the passing of her mother and meets Theodosia. \\n\\nThis delightful character driven story has such depth and beauty. Captain Balfour is all things charitable and gracious who works to serve and care for others. Theodosia is a hospitable loving and considerate woman who shares her heart in such a contemplative way. I enjoyed walking with her as she shared her thoughts and struggles. It was a joy to connect with such a relatable heroine. The story's themes of friendship, loving people for who they are and family resonated deeply with me. I adored this book. \\n\\nDawn's Untrodden Green, drew me into Theodosia and Daniel's world and I did not want to leave. The setting, themes, and beautiful characters made this a fantastic story that I will not soon forget. I very highly recommend Dawn's Untrodden Green. \\n\\nI was given a copy by the publisher and not required to write a positive review. \\n\\n\\n\\n

Regency delight!
I loved it so much! This book was everything you hope for in a Regency novel. Angsty situations, witty banter and a moral dilemma that must be reckoned with. . . but not before the whole house (and town!) are all in uproar! \\n After finishing Dawn's Untrodden Green, I am one supremely satisfied Regency reader! (If my sigh of contentment could translate satisfactorily to words, it would be inserted right here. ) The author's presentation of this historical era, along with an excellent handle on the vocabulary and phraseology of the time, made this story an absolute delight to ingest! Very happy reader here, excellent read!
