Dispensationalism

Ryrie's main goal in this book seems to be to defend dispensationalism against straw-man arguments that misrepresent what dispensationalists believe. It does an excellent job of clearing up misunderstandings of the view by clarifying what the core tenets of dispensationalism are, and what these central claims commit a dispensationalist to. Ryrie also distinguishes his own dispensationalist view from other forms of dispensationalism. \\r\\n\\r\\nA secondary aim of the book seems to be to argue that dispensationalism avoids some of conventalism's weaknesses. This is less convincingly done, perhaps due to the small amount of space given to this aim. Ryrie makes strong general claims that he seems to attribute to all covenentalists, but some (perhaps even most, in some cases) might not agree that covenentalists are committed to those claims. \\r\\n\\r\\nThis book is most helpful as a clarification of dispensationalism.

This is a very well written book that covers the topic at hand superbly, as the author is well versed in such a topic. If you want a good understanding of dispensationalism this is a good place to start. though this is a excellent book, I gave it 3 stars because of the topic. I believe dispensationalism can be a dangerous doctrine and would not recommended it unless its for scholarly debate or general understanding.

Dr Ryrie in this book not only clears up misconceptions regarding dispensationalism by explaining it to those who are unfamiliar with the subject matter but what's more he tackles objections to dispensationalism from covenant theologians within this short and easy to read book. \\r\\n\\r\\nWhether you've never heard of dispensationalism, are dismissive of it or believe it logically and coherently explains how God has dealt with man since the creation, this book is an edifying addition to your Christian library and a great book for your commute.

This classic book by Ryrie is essential reading for an understanding of dispensationalism and an excellent introduction to the topic. \\r\\n\\r\\nIt presents a compelling case for dispensationalism as well as excellent responses to challenges from covenant theology. You should read this whether you are a dispensationalist, a covenant theologian or unsure of your position. \\r\\n\\r\\nThe book is easy to read and engaging. Highly recommended for a clearer understanding of dispensationalism.
