If God is in control of everything, can Christians sit back and not bother to evangelize? Or does active evangelism imply that God is not really sovereign at all? J.I. Packer shows in this classic study how both of these attitudes are false. In a careful review of the biblical evidence, he shows how a right understanding of God's sovereignty is not so much a barrier to evangelism as an incentive and powerful support for it.

Why evangelise if God is sovereign?

If you believe in God's Sovereign Grace in Salvation and ever have this question,""""Why evangelise if God already chooses the elect?"""", then this book is for you. As you would expect with Packer's book, it is biblical, balanced, and full of wisdom. Packer defines what evangelism is, discusses God's sovereignty and human responsibility and how does belief in sovereignty of God affect our evangelism. It is a small book, yet very profound truths is inside the book.

Free will or God's sovereignty? Both is better.

Packer goes deep into the purpose of evangelism as well as God's sovereign will. Free will doesn't cancel out or overpower God's sovereignty, and the fact that God is sovereign doesn't mean we aren't responsible for our actions! I highly recommend this book to anyone that wants to look deeply into human responsibility plus God's power and control and good will.

    Clear and concise

Packer does a very good job of making clear the difficult balance of man's responsibility and God's sovereignty. Both ideas exist and are very clear in scripture, so what do you do with it? Well, packer helps us navigate these two difficult ideas by weighing up scripture and providing wisdom so that we might land on a balanced position. If you struggle with this tough doctrine then this book is for you!

Solid theology linking back evangelism to God's sovereignty

This is an excellent book. \\nIt is short and to the point but at the same time in-depth in its arguments. \\nPacker places evangelism in its right place. He cuts through the noise of various disputes and differing opinions, and gets to the heart of evangelism and the biblical and correct way to view it. \\nHe addresses various points that have been neglected or forgotten in modern day evangelism. He seeks not to be prescription but lay out principles which should guide all evangelism.
