"I have read no book that more carefully, thoroughly, and tenderly displays Christ's heart." - Paul David Tripp, President, Paul Tripp Ministries; author, *New Morning Mercies* and *My Heart Cries Out*.
Christians know what Jesus Christ has done - but who is he? What is his deepest heart for his people, weary and faltering on their journey toward heaven? Jesus said he is "gentle and lowly in heart." This book reflects on these words, opening up a neglected yet central truth about who he is for sinners and sufferers today.
Christians know that God loves them, but can easily feel that he is perpetually disappointed and frustrated, maybe even close to giving up on them. As a result, they focus a lot-and rightly so-on what Jesus has done to appease God's wrath for sin. But how does Jesus Christ actually feel about his people amid all their sins and failures? This book draws us to Matthew 11, where Jesus describes himself as "gentle and lowly in heart," longing for his people to find rest in him. The gospel flows from God's deepest heart for his people, a heart of tender love for the sinful and suffering. These chapters take readers into the depths of Christ's very heart for sinners, diving deep into Bible passages that speak of who Christ is and encouraging readers with the affections of Christ for his people. His longing heart for sinners comforts and sustains readers in their up-and-down lives.

Gentle and Lowly: The Heart of Christ For Sinners and Sufferers$24.99$18.74
This is genuinely one of the best books I've ever read. Dane writes with such tenderness, with amazing illustrations, and with such respect for Scripture that you're able to see Jesus' wonderful heart clearly. Guaranteed to make you cry - you have been warned!

Essential goldmine for all believers
""""You don't need to unburden or collect yourself and then come to Jesus. Your very burden is what qualifies you to come. No payment is required; he says,""""I will give you rest. """" His rest is gift, not transaction. """"\\n\\nOrtlund's main emphasis throughout this book is on God's heart and how His heart beats for us in every season of life, but especially in times of suffering. I especially loved where Ortlund emphasised Christ's headship over the Body. And that when we hurt, He hurts too. We never walk this journey of faith alone. Rather, He is with us every step of the way and feels our pain as well. This book opened my eyes to Christ's heart in a completely different way than I ever could have thought possible. \\n\\nOrtlund's writing style is very much conversational, almost like a friend or mentor sitting you down and just speaking words of life and encouragement into your soul. For a while, I tried to think of a way to describe this book and the best way I can describe it is almost like God Himself was giving me a huge bear hug through this book. \\n\\nThis one is a must for all believers. Whether you are in a season of victory, or whether (like me, at the time I read this) are going through a very difficult season and need some encouragement. \\n

Good, not amazing
I love the gorgeous cover art of this book. The slip cover is like textured paper, and the hardcover book underneath is a lovely dark sage green colour. I actually only got half way through it, though. It wasn't holding me and I felt it dragged a little in places. The language was a little older, and it was a lot of Christianese. If you like that kind of thing, you'll love this book.
