A unique treatise on the topics of heaven and of love
Reading this sermon helped me to realise the fallenness of our experience of love on this earth, grieving the way I fell short, which then led me to look forward with hope to the perfect world of love in heaven.
Edwards speaks loftily of the glories of heaven. The elevated language can be difficult at times to relate to, which can be even more helpful as it contributes to the tension of realising how wonderful and “above us” heaven is. Edwards also does not shy away from the truths about hell, which is impactful as it reminds us that our rejection of God is serious, deserving of eternal judgment forever devoid of love.
The Crossway Short Classics series conveys in beautiful form theologically deep, thought-provoking written works by respected Christian preachers/teachers. 'Heaven is a World of Love' is one of these beautiful little books passing down truths from an earlier age to today.
