J. Hudson Taylor: A Man in Christ (Missionary Life Stories Series)

This is an excellent book for your spiritual intimacy with God. What it means to have faith in Christ, and Christ alone! His missionary journey was admirable. He took the step of faith as young as 21 years of age and seeing how God moves through prayer. His journey with God is inspirational and you will be encouraged and challenged by his faith journey. One of his famous quote was: ""There are commonly three stages in the work of God. First impossible, then difficult, then done. ""

J Hudson Taylor leads the way in global missions into Asia when this was still rather unheard of. His willingness to break the stereotypical norm of a western missionary and become one like the locals was an example taken from the apostle Paul himself yet rather revolutionary for a missionary of the 1800s. His faith in God to trust even in the simplest of the things is inspiring; his readiness to preach the gospel at every street corner is motivating and his steadfast confidence even as things are not going to plan is worth learning from. This is a book outlining a life-long dedication to a nation that is now transformed and still being transformed by the work of God.
