Leading on Empty: Refilling Your Tank and Renewing Your Passion$24.99
An interesting read. Wise counsel, through a difficult journey.
Taking us through his own journey of """"Burnout"""", the trials of being overworked and under rested, severe anxiety and depression, and how he responded to them- both positively and negatively. \\nTaking us on a journey with the people of the Bible, and their moments of """"Burnout"""", and how they responded to their situations- both positively and negatively. \\nGodly counsel, with some wise insights for people in any type of leadership position in life. \\nWhen I say """"counsel"""", it is quite often written like you are reading a letter from an parental, or family figure. \\nHonest and thoughtful. \\nSome """"quotable quotes"""" from famous, and not so famous, figures from history, too. \\nAll in all, an interesting read, that I happened to come across at the right time in my life. \\nRecommended.

This Book is a Must-Read for All Leaders
This is a book I wished I had read years earlier. Any Christian leader who has experienced burnout, who knows what it is to lead on empty, with a depleted tank and reduced passion, will be able to identify with Wayne Cordeiro's experiences. Leading at a fast pace, packed schedule, without regular rest and renewal, and under high expectations both from others and yourself, any leader will face the risk of suffering from burnout which is often the body's and God's way of saying we need rest, refreshment and renewal. Burnout is closely associated with depression and, based on his experience, Wayne Cordeiro very helpfully identifies for the reader the causes and early warning signs of depression. He also shares with the reader what can be done to recover from or prevent burnout: scheduled times of regular rest, solitude and sabbaticals, regular physical exercise, eating healthily, enjoying one's family (who will ultimately be there for you!), and daily hearing and learning from the Divine Mentor amongst other things. All these require that one lives what Cordeiro calls the intentional life which allows God to renew and reenergize us in a way that will help us to release greater leadership energy for higher levels of service. This book is highly recommended and is a must-read for all leaders who want to go for the long haul to finish well and finish strong and leave behind a godly legacy.
