Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, the

Having grown up with this story (the original story, kid versions, tv series, movie. . . ), it's one I've always loved but every time I read it, I'm struck again by the depth of it. The words and themes of forgiveness and grace and sacrifice were all there back when I was a child, but the older I get, the more they impact me. No, technically it's not an allegory - it's a story about deep magic - and yet it's impossible not to see the parallels to Jesus's sacrifice, his power over death (oops, is that a spoiler???) and the incredible grace he offers. Such an incredibly powerful, gripping, well-told story. An absolute must for children and adults alike, Christians and non. \\nAnd I absolutely LOVE the illustrations in this version. They're stunning and such a great addition to the story.
