What a tender, sweet romance. I enjoyed it from start to finish. Whilst the majority of the story just meandered nicely through the pages I never once found it boring. It is a story about forgiveness, wrestling with your past and family. I really enjoyed getting to know the characters and I was transported into their world. Wonderful story.

Lovely Read
A story about forgiving the past and moving on. This is the first of the series and I will definitely be reading the whole series. I loved the part at the back which gave you the author's notes about the actual lighthouse and some of the characters in the book that were based of actual people. It would be a great book to pack to enjoy while on holidays.

Wonderfully written novel
A wonderfully written novel that sweeps you away to another time and place. The rich detail and vivid characters in this historical novel will capture your heart. This is a well researched novel about the life of a lighthouse keeper, his family and a small community. It is a tangled tale of family secrets, drama and intrigue. After a hasty marriage, Emma and Patrick are taken on a journey of acceptance and forgiveness as they learn more about each other. Looking forward to reading Book 2.

Heart-wrenching
Such a beautiful story! Emotionally captivating and intellectually stimulating, Hedlund writes to keep you fuming at gossipers and guessing about secrets. Delicacy and vulnerability encapsulate Emma and Patrick and the beautiful relationship they're establishing. Sparks fly and the chemistry is electrifying. Prepare for a broken heart. And little Josiah adds such sweetness and innocence. His tantrums and innocent perspectives make you laugh, smile and ache as he has yet to understand what is about to unfold. I'm really looking forward to the next adventure in this series.
