One of my favourite Christian kids books to date

This book is so relevant and relatable to every family with kids. It’s both a genuinely interesting story to read (written well, beautiful illustrations) and excellent theology. But most importantly, it’s been the best foundation for ongoing conversations about discontent and comparison/envy (a daily issue we have to actively deal with in our home between siblings). I find myself referring back to this storybook so often with my 4 and 6 year old to help them connect their behaviours with the deeper/first sin that led to it. We’ve also connected the concepts in this book (the see-covet-take-hide cycle) to a number of Bible stories too (such as Adam and Eve taking the fruit). It was also so helpful to read how the girl got angry with her brother for no reason other than that she was mad he had what she wanted; as we see this in our kids too but I don’t think I had as frequently made the explicit connection between those two behaviours in my kids before this and now when I see envy rising in a sibling’s heart. I am a better parent from this book - I feel like I learnt how to disciple my kids through this particular sin issue more richly than I previously had been. I hope she writes more of these. I didn’t find the “Arlo” book as rich or insightful as this one, and am yet to read her screen time one.
