"The Himalayan view from our back porch was normally breathtaking but that day I sat there and wondered. Ten years of civil war, a deteriorating health system, an economic crisis and a political stalemate. It was a background of hopelessness for the lives of our Nepali friends and the community that we lived in. In such a setting of pain and darkness, how could God reveal his nature? And how could he call me by name? I wasn't sure. I didn't think it was possible."

From within the uncertainty of Nepal's civil war, Naomi Reed continues the story of her family's desire to train Nepali physiotherapists and share God's love in word and action. Her honesty and genuine longing to see God's purposes and sovereignty make this unforgettable reading. While we as readers don't all live through times of war, we all need to grow in our dependence on God in the hard times that we face. Through reading this story, we too will be inspired to trust "the Lord, the God of Israel who summons you by name."

    Honest

No Ordinary View is physiotherapist Naomi Reed's second book in her series (of 3) about her time in Nepal as a missionary. The family have returned to Nepal in 2004 (this time with three rather than one child). While the view from their home is magnificent, nothing is easy. Some of the challenges Naomi faces are home schooling her three boys, four months of non-stop rain each year and being caught up in a scary civil war during the end of their tenure. There are many worthwhile spiritual lessons that Naomi shares with her reader and one breathes a sigh of relief when they are able to leave Nepal safely, only a little earlier than planned with God providing graciously for husband Darren's physiotherapy training work to be continued. Naomi has a comfortable and honest writing style and one can identify with her sentiments as she grows in her spiritual walk. Highly recommended.

    An all time favourite book

Another beautiful read from Naomi. I fell in love with her way of writing in My Seventh Moonsoon and this sequel is even better! Naomi writes with such honesty and Godly reflection. I would describe No Ordinary View (and My Seventh Monsoon) as a devotional diary of sorts. In the book Naomi continues to share lessons from God as she describes missionary life in the Himalayas. It is such a delight to read this book and grow in your knowledge of God. I highly recommend this book to women of all ages.
