This is an instructional book on public prayer. Back in the day many churches had a mid-week formal prayer meeting. It differed little from a worship service with only the prayer element taken up by elders or men called upon to publically pray before the assembled congregation. All other elements of worship where still present in varying degrees. This book contains a collection of sermons Spurgeon preached either on prayer in general or specifically on these occasions. The book is valuable because it highlights all aspects of public prayer, what should be avoided and how best to do it all gleaned from different parts pf the Scriptures with pastoral counsel thrown in.
