Have you ever wondered whether God gave Adam and Eve free will? Or what 'free will' even means? Have you ever wondered whether God influences us to make the decisions we make day to day? And if he does, how exactly he does it? Have you ever wanted to know...
Have you ever wondered whether God gave Adam and Eve free will? Or what 'free will' even means? Have you ever wondered whether God influences us to make the decisions we make day to day? And if he does, how exactly he does it? Have you ever wanted to know what the Bible means when it says some are chosen or predestined? Is that good news or bad news for us?
If you have been a Christian for any length of time, you have probably wondered about these questions. In this Little Black Book on predestination, Scott Petty brings his trademark humour and clarity to a topic Christians often get tied in knots about. (85 pages)
About Little Black Books A series of books that gets straight to the point on the topics that Christians always have questions about. Not too big, not too fancy, and not at all boring. LBBs are ideal for young Christians (ages 14-20+), but speak biblical truths applicable to any age range.

Predestination (Matthias Little Black Book Series)$9.99
This is a book not just for teenagers on a Biblical teaching that Scott explores in an often humorous and in a very accessible way. \\r\\nPredestination is a topic that many Christians (not just teenagers) at some point will struggle with. One of the refreshing things about Scott's book is he relies first of all on what God has to say to us on the matter. Scott says in the Introduction: """"Instead of relying on reason, I will tend to make points using Scripture, seeing that Scripture is the Word of God, who has a very big brain and whose reasoning has not been damaged by sin. """"\\r\\nWhat does it mean for God to choose us? Do we have 'free will'? Is God acting in a way that is right fair? These and other questions are addressed in a brief readable way that also gives explanation to what the Bible has to say on this matter. \\r\\nI found that this book gave me some clear useful illustrations to remember when having a conversation about Predestination with teenagers, as well some Bible passages to include in the conversation. \\r\\nI particularly enjoyed Scott's explanation of 'compatiblist freedom' - (you'll have to read the book) using his son as an example. \\r\\nThere are many weighty books written on this topic. This one is a short book, and so doesn't cover everything, but is a great first read on the subject. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and would recommend it to anyone interested in thinking about the topic of Predestination.
