Proverbs (Geneva Series Of Commentaries)

This is an excellent commentary on the book of Proverbs. The author not only expounds proverbs verse by verse, but also brings in much relevant material from other parts of scripture- and, he does it so well. Each page is oozing with godly wisdom for practical application and to bring forth praise. Well worth the reading of the 632 pages which was so enjoyable.

Arrived as a sturdy hard copy. A basic verse by verse expository commentary on the whole book of proverbs following the chapter divisions. Bridges sees three main parts to the book, part 1, chs 1-9; part 2, chs 10-24 and part 3 comprising of the last 7 chapters. Verses quoted in italics and then an exposition follows, book is well set out and thoroughly footnoted. The style is winsome, practical and experiential, originally produced in the mid 18 hundreds by a minister of evangelical convictions serving in the Church of England. Glad I invested in this work.
