Rees Howells was a man of little worldly fame, yet through Norman Grubb's best selling biography, his life story is known to millions. Born in a Welsh mining village, he left school at twelve and worked in a tin mill and a coal mine. As he came to know the redeeming power of his Lord and Saviour he faced the implications of an entire surrender, learned to love the unlovely and found the key to the power of prayer. As a result he became a man of great Christian inspiration to others in both Britain and Southern Africa where he became the channel of a mighty revival.
Norman Grubb describes all this, but also the foundation of the Bible College of Wales at Swansea, perhaps the greatest monument of his work, and the intercessory prayer that became the hallmark of Rees Howells, impacting as it did on national policy and international affairs.
Rees Howells' life was so great that the Church of Christ still feels the impact of his truths of the Spirit and the Scriptures in a unique and amazing way. Every chapter in this biography is full of drama and light. Rees Howells, Intercessor is an enthralling story, told with simplicity, humanity and humour, and it has proved an inspiration for nearly half a century.

I read this book as a teenager and it is just as impactful now as it was then. From the tale of total surrender to the Holy Spirit, to stories of God's faithfulness and provision even in the eleventh hour, to the power of intercession in shifting world events, this book is filled with stories to stir your faith and inspire you to live for Jesus. It reminds us that faith is not a one-off matter; it will be stretched again and again!

Must read
I have to confess that I wasn't very taken with the cover of this book, and despite the old saying, I do tend to judge a book - at least somewhat - by it's cover! But I was sorely mistaken, and to say pleasantly surprised would be an understatement. \\r\\nThis story is gripping, in both the challenge that the life story evokes, and the quaint and gentle manor with which it is written. I found it impossible not to fall in love with this story, and equally challenging to put it down. \\r\\nIf you've ever fancied yourself as any kind of prayer warrior or intercessor, this book is a must read, and in fact, he beautifully teaches the difference between these 2 important callings. If you want to learn more about prayer and the power of it, if you want to walk more closely with the Holy Spirit, if you want to truly understand a life of surrender, this book is for you. \\r\\nTouching to say the least, moving - definately. Thought provoking but with the gentleness of a babe in arms.

A Life of Abandonment
The inspiring testimony of a man who considered no cost to high to follow Jesus. It's people like this who turn the world upside-down in the lives of those around them. Be encouraged and challenged by what God can do with one obedient servant. I love that stories like these are recorded for future generations to be blessed by.
