The aim of systematic theology is to engage not only the head but also the heart and hands. Only recently has the church compartmentalized these aspects of life-separating the academic discipline of theology from the spiritual disciplines of faith and obedience. This multivolume work brings together rigorous historical and theological scholarship with spiritual disciplines and practical insights-characterized by a simple, accessible, comprehensive, Reformed, and experiential approach. In this volume, Joel R. Beeke and Paul M. Smalley shift from the doctrine of God (theology proper) to the doctrine of humanity (anthropology) and the doctrine of Christ (Christology). This extensive reformed theology explores the Bible's teaching about who we are and why we were created, as well as who Jesus is and why his divinity is essential to the Christian faith.

    Multivolume ST #2

This is a marvellous piece of work, the mature theological fruit and reflection of Joel Beeke and associate. This second volume contains 56 chunky chapters covering the doctrine of creation, man and Christ. It follows in the footsteps of Wayne Grudem's now well known ST in ending each chapter with discussion questions and a psalm to sing to follow in the spirituality of the puritans. It is written in an easy to understand style while being fully footnoted and extensively referenced to primarily sources interacting with traditional puritan and reformed authors of the past and present. Has a lengthy section on Covenant Theology defending a WCF formulation of the duel covenant structure of redemptive history, with a good defence of the CoW placing the Mosaic dispensation under the CoG being of a more legal nature. Very well outlined with a good contents page as well as an analytical outline of the book provided. Highly recommended.
