The aim of systematic theology is to engage not only the head, but also the heart and hands. Only recently has the church compartmentalized these aspects of life-separating the academic discipline of theology from the spiritual disciplines of faith and obedience. This new multi-volume work brings together rigorous historical and theological scholarship with spiritual disciplines and practicality-characterized by a simple, accessible, comprehensive, Reformed, and experiential approach. In this volume, Joel R. Beeke and Paul M. Smalley explore the first 2 central themes of theology: revelation and God.

    Amazing systematic theology work

One of the best reformed systematic theology set out there. Beeke references and draws from scripture as his sources. He also references a lot of older theologians from the past.

    Supersedes Grudem ST

This is a marvellous piece of work, the mature theological fruit and reflection of Joel Beeke and associate. Contains 55 huge chapters covering the doctrine of Scripture and God. It follows in the footsteps of Wayne Grudem's now well known ST in ending each chapter with discussion questions and a psalm to sing to follow in the spirituality of the puritans. It is written in an easy to understand style while being fully footnoted and extensively referenced to primarily sources interacting with traditional puritan and reformed authors of the past and present. Has a few thorough interaction of recent key points of doctrine on cessationism, gender & marriage issues, trinitarian developments to name a few. Well worth a read.
