While society at large is choosing to marry at an increasingly older age, the majority of Christians are married by 21. Those who progress into their late 20s and beyond without marrying can face confusion, exclusion and even loss of faith. In her debut book *Surviving Singledom*, Steph Penny shares the stories of other singles and Steph's own experience of marrying later in life to explore many issues facing Christian singles today. With humour and hope, Steph challenges some of the myths and assumptions surrounding singleness, with the ever-present encouragement for readers to serve God regardless of their marital status.

While our society is increasingly choosing to be single, the majority of the Christian population marries at an early age. Christians who choose singledom for the purpose of serving in ministry can lead fulfilling lives. However, most Christian singles have no wish to remain so and they often experience frustration, isolation and crises of faith. Christians who remain single into their late 20s and 30s can become trapped in a state of perpetual singledom. Surviving Singledom tackles the challenges faced by many Christian singles today. Everything from sex to sanity is discussed in this humorous and hopeful take on singleness. This book will help single Christians to hold onto their faith during times of doubt and turmoil, with an encouragement to follow Christ as a role model and Saviour.

    Great title, humour, and honesty

This is a humourous book about an important topic. It deals with many myths about singleness and is frank about the challenges. It makes no claims that with a formula you can thrive but rather addresses the mess and points us to at least survival.

Well set out and a nice size to hold.

There are two other books currently in this series. Surviving childlessness and Surviving Chronic Illness.

An engaging, practical book on an important subject

I found Steph Penny's debut book 'Surviving Singledom' refreshingly honest, disarming and easy to read, despite its dealing with weighty and, at times, tricky issues. The author has an engaging, gentle, 'chatty' style and her quirky sense of humour also shines through, something I suspect will enable every reader to feel understood and somehow appreciated. The chapters are short, providing convenient, bite-sized chunks for those with busy lifestyles, yet nothing that the author writes is trite. It is obvious that much thought, prayer, research and personal experience has gone into the creating of this little volume, while Steph Penny's counselling training and understanding of the human spirit shine through each chapter. I particularly enjoyed her excellent, practical chapter on financial issues that singles face and, in general, her gentle challenges to hold onto the hope God gives us in life and to keep the faith. \\r\\n \\r\\nOverall, an excellent practical little book that has lots to say to all of us, whether married or single, especially regarding caring for one another and enabling everyone to feel included. \\r\\n
