    Great systematic theology

This is definitely one of my favourite systematic theologies out there. It's modern, so it takes into account important recent discussions. He covers historical theology really well. His treatment of each doctrine is thorough. And he has some great themes which he weaves throughout the book. I particularly loved the first chapter on doing theology. \\r\\nOne negative: his writing is sometimes pretty difficult and heavy going, when perhaps it doesn't need to be.

    A theological masterpiece

Systematic theology texts are very tough reads at the best of times. Michael Horton begins his study with the reformed concept of covenant and then uses this as the framework that organises his systematic work. The early stages can be a challenging read as the text examines some of the philosophical underpinnings of the Christian faith, but the determined reader will be greatly rewarded as he then paints a magnificent picture of our God and the salvation he has revealed.
