Liberal attacks on the doctrine of the divinity of Christ have led evangelicals to rightly affirm the centrality of Jesus&'s divine nature for his person and work. At times, however, this defense of orthodoxy has led some to neglect Christ&'s full humanity. To counteract this oversight, theologian Bruce Ware takes readers back to the biblical text, where we meet a profoundly human Jesus who struggled with many of the same difficulties and limitations we face today. Like us, he grew in faith and wisdom, tested by every temptation common to man. And like us, he too received power for godliness through the Holy Spirit, and thus serves not only as the divine Lord to be worshiped, but also the supreme Human to be followed.

Very helpful when considering the humanity of Jesus Christ

A very helpful book about Jesus Christ's humanity and the implications for our lives as Christians. \\r\\nThe author does a very good job of presenting an analysis of some of the biblical passages which seem difficult to understand when considering what it means that Jesus Christ was fully God and fully human. \\r\\n\\r\\nThe chapter on the realness of Jesus temptations in light of His divinity was especially good. \\r\\nThe author presents perspectives from a few other well known theologians and then his own conclusion with a couple of helpful illustrations to explain the challenging concept. \\r\\n\\r\\nThe chapter on the empowerment of the Holy Spirit was also excellent. \\r\\n\\r\\nThere are a few parts of the book which have technical theological language. A reader with limited theological understanding would benefit from having a dictionary available to look up the meanings of a few words. \\r\\n\\r\\nOverall, definitely worth reading to understand and appreciate more deeply the often under-emphasised implications of Jesus Christ humanity.
