    Honest and Encouraging

Reading this book as a new ministry wife I was firstly reminded of key challenges I already knew; my responsibilities to God, my husband and my family. Secondly, I have read some great advice about issues I have not experienced yet, such as pressures and forgiveness, that I have been able to absorb before having to deal with tough situations. I can see myself going back to these chapters for wisdom and encouragement over time. Finally I found some great tips for encouraging, hospitality that I can implement right now, as well as receiving a stern rebuke to humility and contentment that I can also start applying right away. This book will definitely be on an accessible shelf, for encouragement and advice in the coming months, as well as the coming years.

    Read it every 5 years!

This book was recommended to me when my husband began full-time ministry and I read it straight away. I found it to be a very helpful book that shared from the wisdom of many UK ministry wives. As in any book of this nature, there were aspects that were irrelevant to my own situation, but I intend to read the book every 5 years or so as I seek wisdom for a new episode of life. With chapters on handling criticism, humility contentment, and '10 questions younger ministers' wives ask', this is a very practical book that offer hands-on advice from women who have been there. But this practical approach is well-balanced with a healthy dose of grace and the reminder of it's necessary place in our lives.
