Trained as a midwife, Chrissie Chapman went to Burundi in the eighties to open a maternity clinic and dispensary in a rural area of the country. She had been there just three years when a coup was declared, and the country descended into a state of civil war. It lasted for thirteen long years. During that time, God directed her to work with the orphans and widows. She started a centre for abandoned babies and traumatised children and saw the Lord performing remarkable miracles in the lives of people who had lost everything. Chrissie adopted three children herself, and has raised more than fifty others to young adulthood. Again and again she has witnessed miracles of protection and provision. When the war started Chrissie, her adopted children, and the health staff were living in a rural location on top of a mountain, in a healing centre, with maternity clinic and dispensary. Every night there was gunfire, and every day people would come seeking refuge. One night, she and David Ndarahutse, the mission director, were sitting praying amid the fighting, when David said, "Chrissie, look up." There were dozens of angels standing on top of the walls of the healing centre. That was the night the angels came. "From that moment on," Chrissie records, "I have never experienced or felt fear for my life." Today Chrissie divides her time between Burundi, where she continues to care for the teenagers in her charge, and England, Canada and America, where she speaks widely about the faithfulness and power of God.

The Night the Angels Came: Miracles of Protection and Provision in Burundi$29.99
This is one of the most challenging, encouraging, inspirational, life changing autobiographies I've read. Chrissie Chapman lived her purpose and experienced amazing miracles. Her faith was not only for the mountain-top, but also for the valley. A beautiful Mama who showed us how to have faith in God. Recommended for everyone!

God is still moving
I have a deep longing to know God's word, so much so that at times I forget that our God is not a theoretical God, but one Who is experiential as well. This book was one full of how God moved and continues to move in Burundi. One takeaway from this book is the desperation and 'all that I have' attitude that the people in the book had. Maybe. Just maybe. . . us in the western world are so full of ourself in 'learning' God that we are not desperate enough to experience how He moves in the daily. Great read!

Inspiring, gives hope, and shows some of God's miracles today
I really enjoyed this book. It's written well, and gives some examples of God working in the lives of people in Africa - how he is healing them (literally healing ailments), and doing a lot of the things we find Jesus doing personally in the Bible. The author even brings up the point that we - in our Western, affluent world - may not garner the faith and desperation through pleading to God needed to enact miracles. But the people in this book do - as they completely depend on God for most parts of their daily lives. It's a heart-warming story of how God is """"not dead"""" and, also inspires us more on how we can help others, through the author, Chrissie's, stellar example. \\r\\n\\r\\nI really enjoyed this book. If I had to rank them in order of my favorite:\\r\\n\\r\\n1. This book\\r\\n2. Riley Unlikely\\r\\n3. Kisses from Katie. \\r\\n\\r\\nThey're all similar, and are all wonderful.

faith building and inspirational
This book really helped me to get God out of any boxes I may have put Him in and build my faith for Him doing things in ways that we don't expect. This book is full of testimonies of unlikely provision and people being used for God's glory at just the right time. This is the sort of book you buy a couple of extra copies to give away for birthdays. Well worth the read
