For centuries people have been tormented by one question above all ? 'If God is good and all-powerful, why does he allow his creatures to suffer pain?' And what of the suffering of animals, who neither deserve pain nor can be improved by it?

The greatest Christian thinker of our time sets out to disentangle this knotty issue. With his signature wealth of compassion and insight, C.S. Lewis offers answers to these crucial questions and shares his hope and wisdom to help heal a world hungering for a true understanding of human nature.

In his writing, Lewis shows an unrivalled skill in combining penetrating insight, clear grasp of essentials, and a warmly human common sense. Though written 50 years ago, *The Problem of Pain* remains a fresh and relevant Christian response to this most perplexing aspect of the human condition.

*"A really remarkable bookIt will help many people to revise what they had taken for granted and face possibilities which had not occurred to them."*

    Brilliant

I have read this a few times now as it has much to think on. I find it to be a very healthy discussion on pain. It is written like C. S. Lewis is having a conversation with you and each chapter builds on the one before. I think that this would be a good book for thinking nonbelievers to read.

Unique perspective but a bit abstract at times

I hate giving C. S. Lewis 4 stars, but I personally found some parts a bit too abstract. However I understood the general idea of each chapter and found the points given to be unique.
