The Rescuer (#06 in O'Malley Series)

I immensely enjoyed this whole series!! This is actually one of my favourite series and I read 300 books a year. \\r\\nStephen and Meghan's story was incredible and I was really privileged to walk with them throughout their journey. Stephen comes to understand that Jesus is his friend. There are no strings attached, Jesus simply loves him. It was profound to see how this was explored and explained. Henderson has done a great job of making the faith elements real and believable. I was really looking forward to Stephen's story since he was the last O'Malley to come to Jesus and find love, and I wasn't disappointed!! I immediately fell in love with Meghan!! She is incredible to have walked through such pain and come out better than before. Stephen and Meghan are perfect together and I found myself cheering and rooting for them! The secondary characters were also great and the event that happens with Kate was really shocking!! (I won't tell you what it is, now you have to read it for yourself ) I found myself loving Silverton and I just know that Stephen and Meghan will have a long happy life. \\r\\nThe action scenes had me on the edge of my seat and I was madly turning the pages all day!! I cannot express how amazing this series was and if you haven't read it. . . what are you waiting for? A MUST READ!! I HIGHLY, HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend it!!

I almost feel guilty giving this one 3 stars - because it has been a good series as a whole. Maybe it is me that is petering out, having read all 7 - including the prequel - consecutively. Like the other novels in the O'Malley series, The Rescuer has suspense, mystery a love story. I found this final book a bit predictable. As this is the last book, I should mention that this series is good wholesome reading. There is little more than a gentle kiss before marriage and the language and themes are tame. The Christians in these books hold true to their beliefs and provide a good example to young readers. The series would make a lovely gift to anyone who enjoys Christian Fiction.

I found this book difficult to read, but only because it was so brilliantly written that it felt real - as if I were living every page. Dee Henderson is not afraid to write about topics many would avoid, like pain and suffering and the effect it has on our lives. A well written story that would be good as a stand-alone but is unforgettable as the final book in the O'Malley siblings' saga.
