The Richard Wurmbrand Story DVD (Torchlighters Heroes Of The Faith Series)

As an australian romanian whose family had links to Richard Wurmbrand, I showed this to our children to understand part of their heritage. It brought me to tears as it helped me understand the sacrifice my father and grandparents made to believe in the Lord despite persecution. It is a great dvd to highlight the persecuted church for young people in a way that is relevant and meaningful.

The Richard Wurmbrand story is an episode in the Torchlighters DVD series. This is one of my favourites in the series. My family has watched it many times. Richard Wurmbrand was a Christian who lived in Romania, a communist country, with his family. When he spoke publicly about his faith, he was captured and put in prison. Will he trust God in all the trials he has to go through? Great for all ages. Watch and see how God works through Richard.

The Torchlighters series are excellent tools for teaching your children or sunday school class what real faith looks like. We don't see much persecution in our own culture, but Jesus said persecution would happen. Rickard Wurmbrand is a humble yet powerful example of what it looks like to follow Jesus at any cost. His whole family suffered for their faith, but became victors in Christ, strengthened with all might, as they stepped out in obedience to their Master and Saviour. The DVD's are a half hour cartoon account of the real story, with an hour long documentary as an added feature if you want more information. My children aged 7, 5, 4, and 2 all enjoy this dvd.
