    Loved it

It's women fiction, and I don't read much of that. But this was an easy and interesting read. The main characters are a retired man and a teenager both scared of the future and hurting people they love. The two stories weaved seamlessly and have elements of romance even though that isn't the main focus. The rooster is hilarious--you'll have to read the story to know more about him. I loved that the retired guy and the teenager volunteered at a community centre together. The story made me cry on occasions. I couldn't recommend this book more. There are a handful of sexual innuendoes which I don't like in a book (and why I gave it four stars), but I think most people wouldn't think much of them. The overall story is great and uplifting. I really enjoyed this.

    The Sowing Season

I read this in one sitting. Great blend of age groups represented. A tear jerker for sure. Not preachy but you get Christian concepts about forgiveness etc. A thoughtful read.
