My pastor said he'd been reading Eugene Peterson, so I decided to give it a go. Like The Message, this book is easy to read, but not light reading. It gave me insights into how Jesus communicated, and how I could change how I communicate too. I will have to read it again soon.

Words are powerful
How do you communicate the ways and thoughts of an infinite, wondrous God to a bunch of shepherds, tradies and common folk, as well as a lot of religious leaders who think they already know it all? You have to try and wake them up with stories, pictures, metaphor. Eugene Peterson understands the power of colour and poetry to communicate truths, and he spends time in this book (the fourth in his brilliant series) helping us see how Jesus used them to start a revolution. Focusing on jesus' stories and prayers,""""The Word Made Flesh"""" also gives us a lot of insight into Jesus himself - what he cared about, how he felt and his dreams for the world. I love this series.
