    Gripping

Although this movie is well done in every way, there was very little Christian content. When adrift at sea, Louis 'Louie' Zamperini promises God to follow Him if He gets him out of this predicament, but we don't see the fulfilment of the the promise in this film, other than in the post script read quickly before the credits roll. Yes, it's graphic, and at times too gruesome to watch with both eyes. Yes, it's true. Yes, it's an amazing story of survival against the terrible horrors of a Japanese POW camp. Yes, it's well acted and technically well done. But it could have been any secular war movie. It only becomes inspirational as a foundation for the second movie. I recommend them both as a pair.

    A Movie of Courage

This is such a challenging movie and one painful to watch, but one which will encourage and challenge as this incredible true story unravels. It has impacted everyone I know who has watched it.

    Human Spirit

These two movies based on the life of Olympian war hero Louis 'Louie' Zamperini are confronting and inspiring. \\r\\n\\r\\nHow do you come from 'I'm nothing' to 'someone'. Louie's brother encouraged and trained Louie to Olympic record-breaker. \\r\\n\\r\\nHow do you beat your enemy at war? You survive till the end. \\r\\nLous survives a plane crash, torture as a Japanese war prisoner but refuses to take the easy road when offered a way out of the Prison camp. \\r\\nOn his return home, he suffers PTSD but his brother stays watchful and his support.
