    Excellent Historical Novel

This is Book 1 of the 9-book Zion Covenant series. I really loved this book and found myself enthralled throughout its 452 pages. It is beautifully written and the historical details are woven into the story almost seamlessly. I found myself caring for the characters and wanted to know what happened to them. Even some of the less admirable characters such as Thomas and Rudy had other dimensions that showed them in a different light as the story progressed. Some of the historical events were real eye-openers for me. For example, I didn't realise that Jews were already dying in concentration camps before the war and I was amazed at the failure of other western countries to stand up to Hitler and Mussolini earlier. My only slight criticism is that it seemed that every man who came in contact with Elisa fell in love with her, even though she wasn't the sort of character who invited that sort of attention. However, I felt drawn to her plight and that of her family and friends. Issues of Christian and Jewish faith were also woven into the story, but never in a heavy-handed way. Whenever such issues were raised, it seemed to fit the story perfectly. \\n\\nAlthough this book deals with a serious topic and there are many serious, sad, and even tragic passages; it is not all doom and gloom. Indeed, there are many lighter moments and there is always the hope that things can be better if only people will put their faith in the right things and help their fellow humans. \\n\\n

    Vienna Prelude

Vienna Prelude-Zion Covenant\\nThis is a thick volume but once I started reading I couldn't put it down. The story is gripping with high drama of escape by a violinist and he family and friends. The holocaust account is unveiled before us and comes alive . They must make it to Zion or Jerusalem to survive as a people of God . When you read it you will see part of the Bible come alive too and will see how the prophecy about the return of the Jews to Israel is being fulfilled. There's intense faith in God interwoven into the fabric of the book with great artistry. \\nThe book is vividly written and will capture any reader's rapt attention. Each book in the series is interlinked but is still a complete whole for the reader's enjoyment. I recommend the book to everyone. It's worth investing into it. \\n

    Interesting premise

This was a very interesting story with some really beautiful spiritual moments where characters choose faith in spite of the darkness surrounding them. The only thing I would say is it changed perspectives at key moments which is a great way to keep me turning the pages, but does get frustrating when I want to know what happens next for my favourite character. Great historical fiction, though, and an interesting era.

    Fantastic read!

This is the first book in the excellent zion covenant series. It instantly draws you into the story and captures your interest in the characters. An exciting and addictive read, makes you feel like you are actually there. A sobering history story with hope. Thoroughly recommend. Mid to late teens and up. Be prepared to buy the rest of the series too!!
