    Great read

Roberts Liardon truly is a great historical writer. The stories were fascinating and I enjoyed reading about great men and women of God that impacted our generation. It challenged and inspired me. Worth a read.

    Couldn't put this one down

This book gives potted bios of twelve American """"revivalists"""" active roughly pre-1950, including three women. Each account is long enough to give real depth and detail, and short enough to read one or two in a sitting. \\r\\n\\r\\nThe author describes his special life calling for this biographical work - a promising qualification. I found his editorial/pastoral comments non-intrusive and helpful. Overlook the cheesey title and cover design. \\r\\n\\r\\nThis volume (of three) covers Pentecostals, so it's packed with baptisms in the Holy Spirit, tongues, miracles, visions, healings, and mass conversions. But don't be put off if you're an evangelical like me. It does demand a kind of """"liar, lunatic or of the Lord"""" assessment, but if you get past that, you can marvel and praise God for the mighty works he is doing in modern times. This is Acts continued. \\r\\n\\r\\nA rollicking read, but much more. The common elements in the lives of each are especially clear when compared as a group like this. It left me asking what does this mean for me and my church. \\r\\n
