Thousands of people leave Christian ministry every month. They have not lost their love for Christ, or their desire to serve him. But for one reason or another, they are exhausted and simply cannot carry on.
Christopher Ash knows this experience all too well. As a pastor of a growing church, and then in his role training people for ministry, he has found himself on the edge of burnout a number of times, and has pastored many younger ministers who have reached the end of their tether.
His wisdom has been distilled into this short, accessible book, in which he reveals a neglected biblical truth and seven keys that flow from it. Understood properly, and built into our lives as Christians who are zealous to serve the Lord, they will serve to protect us from burnout, and keep us working for God's kingdom and glory.

Zeal Without Burnout: Seven Keys to a Lifelong Ministry of Sustainable Sacrifice$26.99
Recommended not only for pastors, but those who serve at the church
I have been blessed reading this little book, as the author reminds us that we are not God, that we are dust and we will return to dust. The author does not encourage laziness in ministry, but how can our zeal for the Lord's work be sustainable. Not only is this book practical, but it is also gospel saturated, and I would greatly recommend this little book not only for pastors, but also for every Christian who does ministry at church.

Much-needed help
Christopher Ash helps pastors and lay Christians alike in examining their hearts and lives. He helps Christians to avoid unecessary burnout by recognising they are human and not God, and need sleep, food, rest, friends and more. This book also contains the stories of other Christians who've dealt with burnout and lessons they've learnt. This is highly recommended for all Christians for themselves and to support their pastors.

Important Read
This is a quick and easy read about the importance of taking care of one-self, especially in ministry, to avoid physical and mental burnout. It has excellent case studies that show just how much burnout can affect the individual. It is important to remember that even though we may not see it, everyone is struggling with something. This book is practical and is suitable for anyone that is in the workforce.

Top pick for ministry workers!
I have read this book twice already. It is a fantastic resource for paid ministry workers but would be helpful for anyone involved in christian ministry. As the title indicates, this book outlines how we can be zealous in our work for Christ without burning out. The chapters are short, each with a bible passage and a case example of someone who burnt out in ministry. I appreciated that the case examples include the author himself as well as both male and female workers plus church workers and non church Christian workers. I have read this book with a fellow ministry wife and found the length of the chapters perfect for a reading with a cuppa. The book is physically small with excellent formatting and a lovely hard cover. It helped me identify some unhealthy habits in managing ministry stress and would be great as a gift. Highly recommended.
