Martin Luther (1483–1546) was a German theologian, pastor, professor, and central figure of the Protestant Reformation. His Ninety-Five Theses helped ignite widespread debate about church practice and authority, while his teaching emphasised salvation by grace through faith and the authority of Scripture. Luther also translated the Bible into German, helping make Scripture more accessible to ordinary readers. His extensive writings include sermons, catechisms, theological works, biblical commentaries, and reflections on prayer and Christian living. Through works such as The Bondage of the Will and The Small Catechism, Luther’s influence continues to shape Protestant theology, worship, discipleship, and biblical teaching.
