R.C. Sproul

R. C. Sproul (1939–2017) was an influential Reformed theologian, pastor, author, and Bible teacher dedicated to helping Christians understand the character of God and the foundations of historic Christian faith. He founded Ligonier Ministries, through which his teaching reached audiences worldwide through books, conferences, broadcasts, and educational resources. Frequently asked questions

Who was R.C. Sproul?
R.C. Sproul was an American Reformed theologian, pastor and author. In 1971 he founded Ligonier Ministries, and his daily radio program, Renewing Your Mind, began in 1994. He also founded Saint Andrew’s Chapel in Sanford, Florida, and Reformation Bible College, and served as general editor of the Reformation Study Bible. He wrote more than one hundred books and died in 2017, aged 78.
Which R.C. Sproul book should I read first?
The Holiness of God is the best place to start. It’s his best-known book, and it explores the truth he summed up as ‘God is holy, and we are not’, and why that changes how we worship and live. From there, Chosen by God explains the Reformed view of predestination, and Everyone’s a Theologian is a clear introduction to Christian doctrine.
What is Chosen by God about?
Chosen by God: Know God’s Perfect Plan for His Glory and His Children explains the doctrine of predestination from a Reformed perspective. Sproul works through the questions people most often raise, such as how predestination fits with human free will, in plain, careful language. Christians hold a range of views on predestination, and this is one of the most widely read explanations of the Reformed position.
What is Everyone’s a Theologian about?
Everyone’s a Theologian: An Introduction to Systematic Theology walks through the core teachings of the Christian faith, from the nature of God and Scripture to salvation and the last things, in clear, accessible language. Its title makes Sproul’s point: everyone has ideas about God, so the question is whether they’re true. It suits new Christians, small groups and anyone wanting a firmer grasp of what they believe.
What are the Crucial Questions booklets?
The Crucial Questions series is a set of short booklets in which Sproul answers one question about the Christian faith, such as Can I Lose My Salvation?, How Should I Think? and What Does It Mean That God Is Sovereign? Each can be read in one sitting, which makes them ideal for personal reading, small groups or giving to a friend with questions.
What is the Reformation Study Bible?
The Reformation Study Bible is a study Bible with notes written from a Reformed perspective, with R.C. Sproul as general editor. It’s available in the ESV and NKJV translations, and alongside the verse-by-verse notes it includes short articles explaining key doctrines, which makes it a helpful tool for deeper study of Scripture and theology.
