A must read for young women

A dear friend recommended this book to me as a newly married 25 year old, and I am so glad I took her advice. What a fantastic read it was! Some might say the ideas presented are ""old fashioned"", but honestly I found myself appreciating and agreeing with Carolyn Mahaney's thoughts. Our world and society may change, progress and become more modern, but the simple fact is that God never changes, nor does His ideal plan for our lives. I have started making small changes in my life based on ideas from this book, and I am already seeing the positive difference it is making. I will be making this book my bridal shower gift of choice from now on, as I think today's young women desperately need to hear the biblical messages this book contains.

    Great read!

I got so much out of this book! Although it speaks to women of all ages and circumstances, as a new mum I found that it really spoke to me. This biblically based book has so much in it for all women!

    Fantastic

What a great book for wives, mothers and homemakers who wish to take joy in their roles to the glory of God! \\r\\nMahoney shares with readers great biblical wisdom and insight specific to women and adds to readers' understanding with practical and inspiring examples from her own life and the life of others. \\r\\nA book I will definitely read again in the future when I've lost all joy in serving my husband and children.

Theologically rich and a pleasure to read

When you walk into a Christian book store it is kind of surprising that many more books have been written specifically for women than men. The female market is certainly saturated. This can be a good thing but it also means it is hard to know which books for women are worth reading. \\r\\n\\r\\nThe book for Christian wives and mothers that I most recommend is 'Feminine Appeal' by Carolyn Mahaney. \\r\\n\\r\\nThe whole book revolves around Paul's teaching to women in Titus toward older women: 'In this way they will train the younger women to love their husbands, to love their children, to be self-controlled, pure, fulfilling their duties at home, kind, being subject to their own husbands, so that the message of God may not be discredited' (Titus 2:4-5). \\r\\n\\r\\nThus Mahaney draws out seven virtues from the verse for women and devotes a chapter to each:\\r\\n(i) the delight of loving my husband;\\r\\n(ii) the blessings of loving my children;\\r\\n(iii) the safety of self-control;\\r\\n(iv) the pleasure of purity;\\r\\n(v) the honor of working at home;\\r\\n(vi) the rewards of kindness;\\r\\n(vii) the beauty of submission. \\r\\n\\r\\nThe book is theologically sound and well-written. It is also easy to read as it is filled with helpful illustrations and practical tips on how to implement the virtues into your life. The last chapter even serves to give a mini biography of a woman dear to Carolyn Mahaney herself, her mother. Carolyn's mother is thus held up as a wonderful…

    Great Book

I thought this book was wonderful. It gives a great perspective mostly on being a wife and mother and encourages Christian women to embrace these rolls. The story at the end about Margaret is worth buying the book for alone. Very heart warming.
