COMMENDATIONS
"Written to some of the earliest Christian communities to resolve an urgent and immediate crisis regarding religious liberty, Galatians has continued to lead millions to personal freedom over the centuries. Alan Spence here engages with Galatians in a way that makes Paul's brief and passionate letter speak with fresh power today."

    Brilliant Study

Paul's epistle to the Galatians addresses issues that the church in Galatia were facing - the principal issue being influenced by """"another gospel"""". There was debate amongst Christians in Paul's life regarding whether new converts were expected to become Jews first or not and to what extent the Mosaic law should feature in the lives of Christians. Paul makes his position clear that if anyone - man or angel - preaches another Jesus or another gospel to the one Paul preached that they should be accursed and bemoans the fact that the church at Galatia had seemingly been bewitched by people doing this. \\r\\nSpence virtually gives a verse by verse exposition of the epistle where he explains not only the context of Paul's message within the epistle but also the historical context behind some of the issues being addressed. \\r\\nThis """"study"""" is riveting reading and I wish more study guides were written like this. Reading Galatians with Spence is to truly get an education in the epistle and understand what the issues facing the church at Galatia were and why Paul wrote the epistle in the manner he did. The relevance for Christians today is that we are often subject to both well intentioned and evil people trying to sell us another Jesus and another gospel. Reading this book will ground the Christian in who God is and what the true gospel is. Highly recommended, let us not be bewitched.
