When Katherine "Kit" FitzGilbert turned her back on London society more than a decade ago, she determined never to set foot in a ballroom again. But when business takes her to London and she's forced to run for her life, she stumbles upon not only a glamorous ballroom but also...

When Katherine "Kit" FitzGilbert turned her back on London society more than a decade ago, she determined never to set foot in a ballroom again. But when business takes her to London and she's forced to run for her life, she stumbles upon not only a glamorous ballroom but also Graham, Lord Wharton. What should have been a chance encounter becomes much more as Graham embarks on a search for his friend's missing sister and is convinced Kit knows more about the girl than she's telling.

After meeting Graham, Kit finds herself wishing things could have been different for the first time in her life, but what she wants can't matter. Long ago, she dedicated herself to helping women escape the same scorn that drove her from London and raising the innocent children caught in the crossfire. And as much as she desperately wishes to tell Graham everything, revealing the truth isn't worth putting him and everyone she loves in danger.

Great book by a Wonderful Storyteller

Great book! Loving this author, she brings the characters and story to life. She makes me care and feel. Can't wait for the next one in the series. Noble Masquerade is still my favourite though.

    Great start to wonderful series

From the first page, where I met Graham, who, despite all his titles and accomplishments, is bored. To Kit. . . the flutter of green fabric that steals across the shadows of the ballroom. . . . I was hooked! A beautiful story of secrets, lies, redemption and sacrifice, all set in beautiful Regency England. Kristi Ann introduces you to characters who come alive. Looking forward to reading Daphne's story.

    Very enjoyable

Started reading and couldn't stop. Haven Manor is one of my favorite series of all time, another great work by Kristi Ann Hunter. remember to read the novella (A search for refuge) a follow up on the series Legacy of Love was also a very good read.

Beautiful, hilarious romance with deeper themes

What a great start to a new series! Loved this book, especially Graham (the hero), who just can't seem to keep himself away from the secrets Kit (the heroine) tries to hide, continually accidentally finding himself right where she doesn't want him. Hilarious as the situations they find themselves in are, and the group of innocently engaging kids who encourage him, there are so many deeper themes woven throughout the book - grace, forgiveness, faith versus works, trusting God when it hurts. A beautiful story with great characters you'll totally fall in love with. Can't wait for the next story in the series!
