Fed up with the poor quality of life in 1880 New York, Tarsie Raines encourages her friends Joss and Mary Brubacher to move with their two children to Drayton Valley, Kansas, a booming town hailed in the guidebook as the land of opportunity. She offers to help with expenses and to care for Mary and the children as they travel west by wagon train. But when tragedy strikes on the trip across the prairie, Tarsie is thrown into an arrangement with Joss that leaves both of them questioning God and their dreams for the future. As their funds dwindle and nothing goes as planned, will Tarsie and Joss give up and go their separate ways, or will God use their time in Drayton Valley to turn their hearts toward him?

    Challenging and Moving

Once again Kim Vogel Sawyer brings a cast of lovable, yet challenging characters. We meet Mary, Tarsie and Joss. . . setting out West, one to say goodbye, one looking for hope, and one running away. \\r\\nGod will only let you run so far though, and what follows is a beautiful story of redemption and forgiveness. \\r\\nHighly recommend.

    Lovely Story

A Home in Drayton Valley' is full of incredibly deep, likable characters:\\r\\n Mary - ever devoted wife and mother struck down by a terminal illness, with dreams of a better life for her little family, whether she sees it or not. \\r\\n Tarsie - amazingly dedicated friend who pledges to care for Mary's children, and husband, after Mary's death. She is determined to honor her pledge to Mary and to God, no matter what. \\r\\n Joss - Mary's hard-hearted, gambling, drinking husband who knows he's turning out just like the father he hated, but cant seem to help himself, even though his love for Mary is so sincere. \\r\\n Simon and Ruth - these two really make the story, with their wisdom and maturity, and their love for God. Simon shows Joss how to love his children, while Ruth reminds us all of the privilege it is to read God's Word. \\r\\nTogether, these five wonderful people touched my life and made me sad when the book was over. I love Kim Vogel Sawyer's writing style and 'A Home in Drayton Valley' was one of her best. Highly recommended.
