But when former schoolteacher Lydia Crawford steps onto its dusty streets in 1880, she finds a town with a deep-seated resentment of Northerners--like her. Lydia won't let that get her down, though. All will be well when she's reunited with her fiancé. But when she discovers he has disappeared--and that he left behind a pregnant wife--Lydia is at a loss about what to do next. A Mystery and a Romance!

I've loved many books by Amanda Cabot and this one is no different. Amanda spins a tale that keeps you guessing- a missing fiance who's married someone else? And other things keep going missing too- the sheriff is trying to solve the mysteries but he's starting to doubt himself. One thing he can't doubt is his growing feelings for Lydia.

    For Agatha Christie fans.

I do not enjoy murder mysteries so would not have chosen this book if I had known it was one. Other people obviously like hearing about psycho killers, judging by what is on tv. This book is more like Paper Roses, than Amanda's Texas Crossroads series. Thanks to NetGalley and Baker Publishing for a free book to review.
