    A relaxing read.

These days with the stresses of daily news, I enjoy getting away from it all by reading fiction like this one. Barbara Cameron has her character Sarah sum up what I would consider the down side of most Amish Christian fiction. Sarah says,""""We don't believe in converting others. All we want is to live our lives the way we've done for hundreds of years. """" We are our brothers' keepers and one can be perplexed as to how someone can be a Christian but stand by and let the lost crowd their way down the broad road to eternal separation from God. God actually calls us to be His ambassadors and give the gospel to every creature. How grieved the Lord must be if we hide our light. The Bible tells us that the key to fighting pride is to be filled with the Holy Spirit, not to change our method of cooking and heating and dressing. I have cooked on wood stoves for years and had little to no electricity while we lived among people who subsisted on sweet potato cooked in a fire. I didn't find the temptation to pride less then, than now in Australia where we have the modern conveniences. So, this book is interesting but I wouldn't go to it for spiritual sustenance.
