Poignant and passionate, this memoir charts an emotional journey into the arms of the God who heals all wounds. Emily Wierenga shares her long search for true freedom as she travelled the world, ultimately finding her faith waiting in the place she least expected it.

Disillusioned and yearning for freedom, Emily Wierenga left home at age eighteen with no intention of ever returning. Broken down by organized religion, a childhood battle with anorexia, and her parents' rigidity, she set out to find God somewhere else--anywhere else. Her travels took her across Canada, Central America, the United States, the Middle East, Asia, and Australia. She had no idea that her faith was waiting for her the whole time--in the place she least expected it.

Poignant and passionate, *Atlas Girl* is a very personal story of a universal yearning for home and the assurance that we are known, forgiven, and beloved. Readers will find in this memoir a true description of living faith as a two-way pursuit in a world fraught with distraction. Anyone who wrestles with the brokenness we find in the world will love this emotional journey into the arms of the God who heals all wounds.

    An honest and touching journey

I have read and re-read this book numerous times and each time I am touched by the raw vulnerability of Emily. I think I have cried each time I have read it. Her journey towards God and knowing herself is captivating. She exhibits such perseverance through hardship. The struggles in her faith are relatable and show her humanness. This autobiography is one that has taught me so much about myself and where I call home.

    Thought-provoking, heart-breaking and real

In her autobiography, Emily Weirenga shares the struggle of inadequacy that she fights against and the way that it made her feel the need to deprive herself of food, pull away from those she loved and continually move around the country and world to try and find fulfilment. Ultimately, she finds peace in God and learns what it means to trust Him and those around her. This tender, raw honesty and very real and relatable life story, causes one to consider the ways they might run (intentionally or not) from God and the ones they love and renews one's commitment to trust that God really does love us and needs our love too.
