Perfect for those who wish to begin praying the Divine Office

Much better laid out than the 1st edition with more resources within, this is a very handy compendium for those who wish to begin praying seven of the traditional monastic prayer offices (Vigils/Matins, Lauds, Terce, Sext, None, Vespers and Compline). A huge lectionary of scripture and patristic readings is at the beginning of this prayerbook with selections for all days in the church calendar (both temporale and sanctorale). The layout of the 2nd edition also is much improved with less page flipping required between the sections. One thing that some may not appreciate however is the use of the NRSV as the Bible translation, but if that bothers you, keep a copy of your preferred translation next to you. Beautifully bound in leatherette with the St. John's Abbey Cross on the front in gold stamp and multiple ribbons to keep your place, this is an excellent resource for those who wish to enter more deeply into lectio divina.
