'I read this book slowly as a part of my devotional reading. As few books have done to me, I found my heart burning with things God was teaching me as I read. Often I had to stop to pray. There are challenges to leaders about commitment to Christ, to people, to personal discipline, and to several other things that make people good leaders. As a young person I learned many lessons about the lifestyle of a leader through the life and writings of John Stott. It is amazing how many of those lessons I am still using after almost four decades of ministry. This book has many such lessons that a young Christian leader can glean to help him or her become a biblical leader.' - Ajith Fernando, author, speaker & Teaching Director, Youth for Christ, Sri Lanka.
'A wonderful gift and legacy from Uncle John, clearly, succinctly and freshly written. It is one of the most practical and helpful books on leadership for mature and younger leaders. It inspires and challenges. It's a balanced blend of solid and grounded biblical foundation, personal examples and deep pastoral insights, relevant and contextual application. It will enrich every servant leader whose aspiration is to lead like Jesus, with humility, integrity, sacrifice and by example.' - Dr. Daniel Bourdanne, General Secretary of the International Fellowship of Evangelical Students (IFES).

This book made me thank God for John Stott and his commitment to living a life of integrity, not letting anything be the ""thin end of the wedge"" that takes away God's grace.
also his suggestion to pray over your tasks for the day (so you don't forget them too!)
and the importance of a day off.

a hidden gem
Based on transcripts of talks given by Stott many years ago, this book is a gem for anyone involved in Christian ministry. It is an extremely short read. Stott looks at the challenges of leadership such as discouragement, freshness, leading those older than yourself and more. Teaching is drawn from exposition of Bible passages, followed by a few very practical and personal suggestions for application. Finally this book closes with biographical reflections from two of Stott's previous study assistants, painting a portrait of what is preached in the life of the author. Highly recommended.

Helpful reading
For someone considering ministry or involved in ministry this is an incredibly helpful book. Stott speaks with deep insight and yet presents in an unbelievably simple and clear way. I found this book a great read as a young christian and I would definitely encourage others to read it too!
