T. Scott Daniels, pastor of a Los Angeles megachurch, contends that corporate bodies like churches form an individual spiritual personality of sorts. Cultural influences can impact the collective spirit or attitude of a congregation, either hindering it from becoming all God intends it to be or setting it free to glorify God.??In this practical work, Daniels examines the nature of the seven representative "angels" of the churches addressed in Revelation to show how congregations can escape the principalities and powers that hold them captive. The book encourages working pastors, church leaders, and ministry students to consider a systems approach to church leadership--one that takes seriously the powers at work within local congregations - and offers suggestions for transformation.

Twenty-first-century society is diverse, and Christians must be able to understand other cultures and communicate effectively between and among them. Following up on the bestselling Hurt: Inside the World of Today's Teenagers, this new addition to the Youth, Family, and Culture series explores the much-needed skill of Cultural Intelligence (CQ), the ability to work effectively across national, ethnic, and even organizational cultures. While rooted in sound, scholarly research, Cultural Intelligence is highly practical and accessible to general readers. It will benefit students as well as guide ministry leaders interested in increasing their cultural awareness and sensitivity. Packed with assessment tools, simulations, case studies, and exercises, Cultural Intelligence will help transform individuals and organizations into effective intercultural communicators of the gospel. EXCERPT What do you do when you encounter someone who isn't like you? How do you feel? What goes on inside you?

The final word on improving any and all human interactions

Livermore takes the idea of CQ, or Cultural Intelligence, beyond the corporate and political boardrooms and infuses it with a Godly love and a goal to represent Jesus as you communicate the gospel to any person in any context, be it your neighbour, your brother, your workmate, or your kid's sports coach. \\r\\n\\r\\nHe makes a powerful biblical and theological case for why we should embark on this life-changing journey and then gives us the how. \\r\\n\\r\\nI came to the book with the thinking that it was about missionary endeavours to people of other ethnicity or nationality than my own. That paradigm was flipped on its head within the first few pages. \\r\\nThe very first day of reading I was already applying my new mindset, almost unconsciously, and witnessing a new ease and effectiveness in relating to people of different cultures, be they generational, religious, organizational, ethnic, national, international, institutional. \\r\\n\\r\\nIt is designed as a workbook: offers a self-assessment at the outset and encourages the reader to repeat the assessment later. \\r\\n\\r\\nThis is a book that I recommended so thoroughly that four friends bought copies on my first day of reading it! It will dramatically impact how you relate to another person and so offers continual growth in spiritual formation. \\r\\n\\r\\nA timeless resource for the book collection of anyone who wants to love people as God does and communicate his good news to them relationally.
