This, his magnum opus, is a reflection of some of the most fruitful and mature thinking on federal theology during the seventeenth century, and still holds a preeminent place in our own day. Reformed theology has always understood the biblical doctrine of the covenant to be the theological framework which best unifies Scripture, making it a consistent hermeneutic. In this two volume work, Witsius, presents the reader with a fully biblical and experiential doctrine of the divine covenants; opening up their nature, stipulations, curses, and blessings. Anyone interested in Reformed theology should read this book, for it is Reformed theology at its best.

    Covenant Theology

Started reading this work online in electronic format but just had to buy it in print. It is a reprint (facsimile) of the same title printed in London in 1822 but with an added introduction of the author's life and theology by Joel Beeke. The original work was written in the 17 hundreds probably in Latin. RHB has done a good job in reproducing it and bringing it back into print in two volumes. It is a solid hard copy with sturdy spine and a great looking dust jacket - would look good on anybody's bookshelf. Mostly those interested in covenant (systematic) theology would be tempted to plunge into it but I was won over by the rigorous logic and experiential piety of the writer. If interested in getting these volumes consider getting the 5 volume set of Herman Witsius. Enjoy!?
