Ephesians (#10 New Word Biblical Themes: New Testament Series)

Variously dubbed the "divinest composition of man" and held to be rivalled only by Romans for its impact on Christian spirituality, Ephesians is a breathtaking rendition of the cosmic work of Christ and the role of Christ-believing community in embodying the unity which will ultimately define all material and non-material reality.

Ephesians carries its readers on a whirlwind voyage of redemption, along which God reveals the mystery by which the walls dividing humanity come down, the dark powers behind sin are exposed and believers are invited to develop a Christ-empowered maturity. Unity is a deep seated, yet elusive human longing; this volume explores how Ephesians presents the resurrection of Jesus, the phenomenon of being "in Christ" and the defeat of the rogue "powers and lordships" rampant in the universe satisfies that yearning, by creating the end-time people of God in a revolutionary unity.
