Faithful Women & Their Extraordinary God

The five women in this book did extraordinary work for the kingdom of God. Yet, reading it I never felt, 'I could never be like her!"""". I was reminded again and again of the extraordinary God we serve. Even during reading this book I have been praying more. I have been resisting sin more. I have been looking for opportunities in my life to serve God. I have been thanking God for his provision in the 'little things'. For his comfort in the 'mundane times'. \\r\\nWritten in a very readable style, and with scriptural quotes alongside the stories. Though each story is quite short, none feel 'unfinished'. There are great footnotes for explanations of key terms and locations as well as further reading biographies for each woman of faith. \\r\\nNoel Piper also adds a little 'modern commentary' of how she responded to each story, which helped me to formulate my own reflections. \\r\\nCannot recommend this enough for inspirational reading. \\r\\n

What I particularly like about this book is the focus on the ordinariness of these women with weaknesses and sins just like you and me. Yet these women trusted in an extraordinary God and so their stories became much more than ordinary as God worked powerfully through them. \\r\\nNol Piper writes skilfully as she retells their stories, not glossing over the women's weaknesses (which can be tempting to do in biographies) but highlighting how God worked through them for His great purposes. Nol pauses to consider how each of these women's lives relate to us, challenging the reader with personal questions to consider how we can learn from their particular example. To read of Sarah Edwards' attitude to the mundane chores of motherhood was a huge encouragement and inspiration to me, especially when you consider the support she was to her husband (Jonathan Edwards) to allow him to have such a significant ministry and the lasting legacy she left behind in her children and whom they came to be. \\r\\nThis is particularly a good book if you are interested in biographies but often get weighed down with all the details of a normal length book. You can just pick and choose which story to read. Each of the five women have different stories to tell (and so various points of connection for the reader), yet each speak of the greatness of our God and His power made perfect in weakness.

Im not a regular reader of biographies but I really enjoyed this book. Noel Piper composed this book with biographies of various Godly women and shows how we can be faithful in the some circumstances. Some of these circumstance include pain, loss and other trials that we could go through. I recommend this book Christian woman or girl that has surrendered her life to Christ!\\r\\n\\r\\nYou will definitely benefit from this book.

One of the best birthday presents I've ever received! I must've bought about 10 so far for other people. \\r\\n\\r\\nIf you are someone (or you know someone) who has trouble getting through books, especially Christian books, then here is a really good start!!!\\r\\n\\r\\nVery, very readable. But also faithful, challenging and eye-opening, it will leave you hungering for more of God and a deep love of the way He has been working in this world through """"ordinary"""" people. His mighty works through his saints did not stop at the end of the New Testament, but continues on today. \\r\\n\\r\\nNoel really adds value in the way she has presents the lives of these faithful women as she points out the handprints of God in every small detail of their lives. \\r\\n\\r\\nThese women greatly challenged and inspired me, as well as sparking a desire to read more biographies, but even more than that - I am deeper in love with the God who works through all things for His glory. \\r\\n\\r\\n
