Dinah Taylor has an orderly life that is just how she likes it. A perfectly furnished luxury apartment, a satisfying career as a scientist and CEO of her own company, and an uncomplicated personal life. But all of that changes when she meets seven-year-old Jonah.

The boy shows up one day, a scruffy dog by his side, in front of her office building. Dinah knows nothing about kids and even less about animals, but after she buys him breakfast, he shows up the next day...and the next. She tries to learn more about him, to help him, but he's remarkably skilled at evading her questions. And then, late one night, he calls her in a panic-his dog has been badly injured. Dinah rushes them to a local animal clinic, where she meets Garret, a veterinarian with a thriving practice and a passion for drawing. Though Jonah takes to Garret right away, for some reason neither understands, Dinah and Garret just don't mesh. But for Jonah's sake, their lives continue to collide, and slowly the relationship between these three strangers begins to change.

    Happy, sad, beautiful

Dinah Taylor and Garret Miller are both professionals with busy careers. And yet they each find themselves being drawn into the life of Jonah and his dog, Mutt. Jonah is a strong, independent little boy, who suffers the worst tragedy when his mother dies. Dinah suddenly becomes Jonah's guardian, even though she knows nothing about children, or balancing work and family. She finds herself constantly running into Mutt's vet, Garrett, who ends up helping her with Jonah more than with his dog. It's delightful to follow along as Lauraine Snelling brings these three people closer to each other and to God. I enjoyed this book and I think you will too.

    Thought-Provoking

This book had me wondering what I would do if placed in the situation the main character found herself. Often we ignore situations and people that are right in front of us because we have other time pressing needs or things holding us back. Meeting a child in need is what creates a sort of domino effect for Dinah and her whole life changes and alters as a result of that one meeting. \\r\\nI enjoyed the premise and the author did a marvellous job of making the reader think about some hard topics. At the same time she managed to make the story really enjoyable and interesting. I will be looking for more books written by Lauraine from now on.
